Ten-man Werder Bremen failed to mount pressure on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich after slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Bremen's Brazilian playmaker Diego was sent off five minutes before the break and Frankfurt capitalized on their numerical advantage. Greece striker Ioannis Amanatidis notched home 11 minutes after restart to help Frankfurt secure a valuable win. Bremen stayed second in the league table with 40 points. Bayern Munich can go six points clear at the top if they beat Hamburg SV on Sunday. Elsewhere, Manuel Friedrich's spectacular strike five minutes from time led Bayer Leverkusen to a 1-0 victory over Schalke.
