Fabio Capello still believes Real Madrid have a chance at winning the Primera Liga title after grabbing three crucial points in the 2-1 victory over Valencia on Saturday. The Whites edged their visitors in a close encounter that saw Ruud Van Nistelrooy's spectacular strike cancelled out by former Real man Fernando Morientes, before Sergio Ramos hit the winner for Real. "The title can still be won. We won't stop fighting for it and we'll continue working hard all week in order to win each match. Every game left is a final," Capello told a press conference after the game. The Italian tactician was also glad to see his team put in a strong performance against a team of Valencia's caliber.
"It was important to win this way. We played a great game against a very hard team. You can't be so high in the table if you don't have the mentality, players, and everything else that Valencia has," said Capello. "I really liked the football played, especially in the first half hour of the first half. I really liked the team. We didn't move back in defense." Los Merengues welcomed back unsettled English midfielder David Beckham who contributed to his team's win by setting up Ramos for the winner. "I asked Beckham how he felt before the match, and he told me he felt fine. That's why I introduced him in the second half. He is coming off an injury and wasn't ready for the full 90 minutes," he added. Real jumped temporarily to second place after the win, taking over from Sevilla who will host Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
