Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty on Tuesday stressed the need to maintain pressure on Israel to halt its aggression against Gaza and end its use of starvation tactics against civilians, describing them as flagrant violations of international and humanitarian law. During his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy on the sidelines of the high-level international conference on resolving the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution at the United Nations in New York, Abdel-Aty reviewed ongoing preparations for Egypt's planned early recovery and reconstruction conference, in coordination with the Palestinian government and the United Nations. Abdel-Aty emphasised the importance of expanding international recognition of the State of Palestine within the framework of the two-state solution, as a path to lasting peace, justice, and stability in the Middle East. The Egyptian minister praised the recent progress in Egypt-UK relations, noting that both sides are working to elevate bilateral ties to the level of a strategic partnership. He affirmed Egypt's commitment to building on the current momentum to enhance cooperation across various sectors, especially economic, trade, and investment.
