Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing Israeli aggression and the worsening humanitarian catastrophe. Abdel-Aty briefed Fidan on Egypt's efforts, in coordination with Qatar and the United States, to resume a ceasefire, secure the release of hostages and detainees, and facilitate the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian, medical, and shelter aid to Gaza. The two ministers also reviewed the next steps for the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee — which includes Egypt and Türkiye — as it engages with international actors to mobilise support for the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza. Abdel-Aty updated Fidan on preparations for the Cairo International Conference on Gaza Reconstruction, to be held once a ceasefire agreement is reached. Both ministers reaffirmed their categorical rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians and underlined the need for a just and lasting political solution to the Palestinian issue through the two-state solution, leading to an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. The call also included an exchange of views on the situation in Libya. Abdel-Aty stressed Egypt's support for Libya's national institutions and its firm stance on preserving Libya's unity and territorial integrity. He underscored the need for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections to be held as soon as possible. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
