Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a phone call on Saturday with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. The two ministers reviewed efforts to resume the ceasefire agreement and ensure the implementation of its three phases, including the release of hostages and detainees, and the delivery of humanitarian, medical, and shelter aid to Gaza, despite the dangerous escalation by Israel in both Gaza and the West Bank, and its continued use of excessive military force against civilians and obstruction of aid access. They also exchanged views on the situation in Sudan and regional efforts to support the country. Minister Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt's backing for Sudan's national institutions and their efforts to restore stability and peace. He reiterated Egypt's position in support of Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. The two sides further discussed recent developments in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, and means to promote security and stability in Somalia. Abdel-Aty underscored Egypt's ongoing support for Somalia's counter-terrorism efforts and the strengthening of its national army.
