Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty underscored the importance of Egypt-EU partnership in promoting security and stability in the Horn of Africa. He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to peaceful solutions and regional conflict resolution through dialogue and cooperation. During a meeting on Tuesday in Cairo with EU Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Annette Weber, Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt's efforts to stabilise the region, including diplomatic mediation. He stressed Egypt's strategic interest in strengthening ties with Horn of Africa nations as a pillar of regional and continental security. Sudan's sovereignty The minister called for full respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He highlighted Egypt's support for international and regional initiatives aimed at ending the conflict and reaching a comprehensive political solution. He also outlined Egypt's coordination with international actors and Sudanese political forces to facilitate a ceasefire and humanitarian aid access. Challenges in Red Sea Abdel Aty pointed to rising security challenges in the Red Sea, emphasising the need for regional cooperation among littoral states to safeguard international shipping lanes. He affirmed that Red Sea security is a strategic priority for Egypt, warning that any threat to the region directly impacts the global economy. Weber commended Egypt's active role in African affairs, highlighting the EU's commitment to Red Sea security and Horn of Africa stability. She expressed interest in deepening cooperation with Egypt within international efforts to promote regional stability, recognising Egypt's pivotal role in maintaining security.
