Egypt's annual core inflation edged up to 12.1 per cent in October from 11.3 per cent in September, data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed on Monday, signalling a slight increase in underlying price pressures. On a monthly basis, core consumer prices recorded 2.0 per cent in October, compared with 1.5 per cent in September and 1.3 per cent in the same month last year, according to the central bank. Core inflation — which strips out volatile items such as food and energy — is closely watched by the central bank as a key measure for guiding monetary policy. The CBE said it will release its full inflation bulletin on 15 Nov. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
