Egypt's annual core consumer price index (CPI) inflation recorded 11.6 per cent in July from 11.4 per cent in June, according to latest data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). On a monthly basis, core CPI inflation recorded a negative 0.3 per cent in July, compared with a negative 0.2 per cent in June 2025 and a negative 0.5 per cent in July 2024. The CBE is expected to release the full inflation bulletin on August 15. Core inflation excludes volatile items such as food and energy and is closely watched for monetary policy decisions. The slight uptick keeps core inflation near its lowest level in nearly two years, offering the central bank more breathing room on rates. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
