Egypt's ministry of housing is advancing plans for a tourist walkways project in Sheikh Zayed City designed to enhance recreational spaces and improve urban aesthetics, the ministry said on Tuesday. Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny chaired a follow-up meeting to review progress on the development, which will feature bike lanes, landscaped green zones, commercial malls, restaurants and public seating areas. Several malls have already been handed over to companies for operation, according to Marwa Hussein, head of the Sheikh Zayed City Authority. The project aims to optimise land use in new cities and promote recreational, social and commercial activities. Minister El-Sherbiny stressed the importance of keeping roads and pathways clear of encroachments that could obstruct traffic or pedestrian movement and called for daily campaigns to ensure public spaces remain accessible.
