Asia-Pacific markets had a mixed trading day on Monday as investors were eagerly anticipating further information on the trade negotiations between the US and China, scheduled to begin in Stockholm later in the day. The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong increased by 0.68 per cent to close at 25,562.13, and the CSI 300 index in mainland China rose by 0.21 per cent to 4,135.82. In South Korea, the Kospi index advanced by 0.42 per cent to close at 3,209.52, while the Kosdaq small-cap index declined by 0.32 per cent to 804.40. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 benchmark rose by 0.36 per cent to finish the day at 8,697.70.
