Asia-Pacific markets fluctuated between gains and losses on Tuesday as investors evaluated US President Donald Trump's recent tariff warnings against 14 trading partners. Japan's Nikkei 225 benchmark closed the day 0.26 per cent higher at 39,688.81, and the broader Topix index rose 0.17 per cent to 2,816.54. In South Korea, the Kospi index gained 1.81 per cent to finish at 3,114.95, while the small-cap Kosdaq increased by 0.74 per cent to 784.24. Mainland China's CSI 300 index advanced 0.84 per cent to close at 3,998.45, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose by 1.09 per cent to 24,148.07. In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 benchmark ended the day unchanged at 8,590.70 after the Reserve Bank of Australia unexpectedly kept interest rates steady at 3.85 per cent.
