The Nikkei 225 in Japan increased by 0.59 per cent to close at 38,536.74, and the Topix index rose by 0.35 per cent to 2,786.95. The Bank of Japan kept interest rates unchanged at 0.5 per cent as concerns about economic growth persist. In South Korea, the Kospi index rose by 0.12 per cent to close at 2,950.30, while the Kosdaq small-cap index dropped by 0.21 per cent to 775.65. The CSI 300 index in Mainland China remained unchanged at 3,870.38, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index decreased by 0.34 per cent to finish at 23,980.30. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 benchmark ended the day steady at 8,541.30.
