Egypt's Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met in Abu Dhabi with Mariam Mohammed Saeed AlMheiri, head of the UAE Presidential Court's International Affairs Office and CEO of IHC's 2PointZero, to discuss ways to deepen cooperation in the energy and mining sectors, the petroleum ministry said Tuesday. Minister Badawy outlined Egypt's efforts to attract investment by removing obstacles for investors, a priority for the country's political leadership. He said Egypt has completed a proactive plan to secure domestic natural gas supplies by diversifying sources, increasing local output, importing through pipelines and developing advanced infrastructure for liquefied natural gas imports. These measures, he said, have strengthened supply resilience and sustainability. He also highlighted reforms in the mining sector, including transforming the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority into an economic body, overhauling gold and mineral exploitation regulations to make them more competitive, and streamlining the licensing system to encourage investment. AlMheiri welcomed the Egyptian delegation and expressed her hope for closer UAE-Egypt cooperation, citing strong bilateral ties. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
