Egypt's agricultural exports reached about 8.5 million tons so far this year, up nearly 700,000 tons compared to 2024, according to an official report by the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine. The report showed that citrus continued to lead Egypt's agricultural export list with around 2 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes at 1.3 million tons. Sweet potatoes ranked third at approximately 310,000 tons, while beans (fresh and dry) ranked fourth at around 300,000 tons, and fresh onions ranked fifth at 277,000 tons. Other crops also recorded strong performance, including grapes at 191,000 tons, pomegranates at 148,000 tons, and mangoes at 117,000 tons, in addition to tomatoes, fresh garlic, fresh strawberries, and guava. Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk said the record surge in agricultural exports reflects the strength and resilience of the national economy and underscores Egypt's adherence to global quality and food safety standards. He added that the growth serves as international recognition of Egypt's improved export competitiveness. Moreover, Farouk noted that Egyptian produce enjoys significant confidence in global markets, reinforcing the country's position as an agricultural power and contributing to foreign currency inflows.
