Egypt are set to release 11 Ahli players upon the request of the African champions, following the cancellation of a proposed friendly with Sierra Leone this weekend. The Pharaohs, who are warming up for a crucial World Cup qualifier in Ghana next month, were supposed to host Sierra Leone on Friday, only for the latter to pull out. With 11 members of their squad on international duty, Ahli have requested having back their players ahead of the Champions League semi-final at Cotonsport on October 5. The Reds are supposed to play a warm-up game against a second-division side on Sunday as they hope to have the core of their team on board.
