Ahli will not be pursuing a non-Egyptian striker this winter after signing Ahmed Abdul-Zaher, confirmed coach Hossam Al-Badri. Al-Badri has been looking for an overseas striker for several months following the release of Fabio Junior and the loan of Oussou Konan. A number of Africans had unsuccessful trials at the club while the likes of Geddo and Dominique da Silva have been poised to leave. However, the Reds seem to have changed plans after bringing in Egypt international Abdul-Zaher from ENPPI, as they only look to reinforce their midfield. “We are no longer interested in adding a striker and we also do not intend to sign a new keeper," coach Al-Badri told reporters. “Our priority now is to sign a new defensive midfielder to cover for the absence of Hossam Ghaly." Ahli have been hit by the long-term injury of skipper Ghaly, who damaged knee ligaments at the Club World Cup last month.
