New regulations for importing rubber, plastic waste

CAIRO, May 6, 2018 (MENA) - Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil said new regulations for importing rubber and plastic waste and scrap will be issued as part of the ministry's policy to regulate the importation of such products so as to meet local industry needs.
In a statement released on Sunday, Qabil said his ministry is coordinating with the Ministry of Environment to prepare a resolution whereby rubber and plastic waste and scrap meeting international environmental protection control standards will be lifted from the list of banned imports.
He said importation of such products will be restricted to factories which have been licensed by the General Authority for Industrial Development.
