CAIRO, MARCH 31, 2018 - Egypt on Saturday condemned the Israeli use of excessive violence against unarmed Palestinian civilians who participated in peaceful marches at the Gaza border to mark Land Day on Friday. "Egypt fully supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, primarily the right to establish their independent state with east Jerusalem as its capital, and the right of return," the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. "Egypt calls on all sides to demonstrate restraint and not to expose the lives of civilians to additional dangers. The continuation of the existing situation, without the renewal of the peace process and reaching a solution to the Palestinian issue, is dangerous," the statement added. The Ministry called for the implementation of UN-related resolutions on the Palestine Cause and said the international community must bear its responsibilities towards the issue. It added that commemorating Land Day reminds every one of the necessity of working hard and fast to reach a comprehensive and just settlement to the Palestinian issue.
