Ahly's Mosimane under fire for media exposure
Published in Daily News Egypt on 23 - 02 - 2022

Signs of a crisis are looming between Al-Ahly's administration and South African coach Pitso Mosimane due to his many statements in the local media of South Africa, which are being transmitted through social media platforms in a way that officials of the Red Castle are not accustomed to from any previous coach.
The matter has been repeated by Mosimane more than once in recent months, with Al-Ahly President Mahmoud Al-Khatib trying to convince the coach that this matter represents a violation of the clubs status quo throughout history, which is to work in silence and avoid consistent appearances in the media, which club officials consider to be crucial to maintaining stability.
This comes at a time when the controversy has increased over the coach's future with the club and his position on renewing his contract, which expires at the end of the current season.
Mosimane's last statements to his country were about renewing his contract, and that if he did not renew it, "it would be surprising what some considered a tool of pressure on the administration."
Among Mosimane's most controversial statements was what he said in the Club World Cup during the crisis of the delay in the arrival of international players to the Emirates after the end of their participation with the national team in the African Cup of Nations. The South African coach said that the club did not have the financial resources necessary for this, which caused a commotion that the club's TV channel tried to remedy later.
It is certain that Mosimane's value rose after his recent achievements, but such crises remain disturbing to the club's administration.
In other news, the team's technical staff set a special programme to prepare the players for the South African Sundowns match that is scheduled for Saturday in the third round of Group A in the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly seeks to beat Mamelodi Sundowns and top the group and eventually claim the title for the third time in a row, which would be a historic achievement that has never been achieved before in the history of Africa.
