Mosimane says Ahly to sign South African player
Published in Ahram Online on 24 - 07 - 2021

Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane revealed that the team would sign a South African player that he did not name, saying the new arrival would not be Mamelodi Sundowns forward Gaston Sirino, who was long sought by the Red Devils.
The Cairo giants had two bids for Sirino rejected by Sundowns last year, with the South African side reportedly putting a hefty $5 million price tag on the Uruguayan.
Ahly are on the lookout for attacking midfielders to strengthen their frontline.
"There's a player that will come from South Africa. It's not [Orlando Pirates forward] Thembinkosi Lorch or Sirino but the player will come," Mosimane, who steered Sundowns to a host of domestic titles and the 2016 Champions League crown in a highly-successful eight-year spell, told SAfmRadio in an interview.
"He's not from my former team because I don't want to touch those players because they take me to court."
Mosimane has enjoyed a brilliant start to his Ahly reign after taking over in October last year, leading the record 10-time winners to back-to-back Champions League crowns as well as the Egypt Cup and African Super Cup titles.
Ahly also finished third at the FIFA Club World Cup last February and will feature in the annual tournament again in Japan in December.
Mosimane said that while he misses the flair of South African football, Egyptian football is more advanced in terms of physicality and technique.
"Egyptian football is more physical and South African football is not. Here it's more like Europe," he said.
"They have good technique and I know people will say what are you talking about but I'm talking about shooting, first touch and trapping."
