Published in Daily News Egypt on 08 - 02 - 2022

Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly followed up on efforts made by the Supreme Medical Committee during January this week, referring to a report submitted by a medical adviser to the Cabinet and Head of the Committee Hossam Al-Masry.
Madbouly praised the efforts made by the committee, its immediate response to citizens in medical distress, and its endeavour to provide the necessary medical care for them in coordination with the ministries and relevant authorities.
He also pointed out the importance of continuing to intensify these efforts in order to alleviate the suffering of patients and their families and to provide them with all possible means of support in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, which aim to provide comprehensive and adequate health care for all Egyptians.
Furthermore, the PM praised the cooperation of the authorities responsible for health services in responding to any complaint or distress, stressing that we are all working to achieve one goal, which is to serve the Egyptian citizen.
On his part, Al-Masry said that about 450 cases were responded to in January, which were monitored through newspapers, news sites, and social networking sites.
Al-Masry stated that the responses during January included the issuance of 146 treatment decisions by the PM at the expense of the state for the neediest groups as well as 123 surgeries, and the issuance of 12 special decisions to perform marrow transplants with a concordance.
He added that the committee's efforts during the past month also included performing medical procedures for 63 tumour patients and gamma knife operations, providing drugs for 19 patients in distress that were monitored through social media, and installing prosthetic limbs and prosthetic devices for 15 people with special needs.
