Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed a report submitted by Medical Adviser to the Cabinet Hossam Al-Masry detailing the efforts of the Higher Medical Committee and the Medical Relief Committee during 2021.
Madbouly praised the efforts made by the Supreme Medical Committee and the Medical Relief Committee of the Cabinet in dealing with citizens' distress and providing the necessary medical care for them, stressing the importance of continuing these efforts in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to provide comprehensive and decent health care for citizens.
Al-Masry — who is also head of the Medical Relief Committee — explained that during the past year, about 7,051 cases were taken care of and monitored through newspapers, news sites, and social networking sites.
He indicated that the committee's efforts during 2021 included the issuance of 1,748 treatment decisions by the PM at the expense of the state for the neediest groups as well as covering 2,526 surgeries. 152 directives were also issued to conduct bone marrow transplants.
Al-Masry added that the committee's efforts during the past year also included performing 710 tumour removal and gamma knife operations, providing drugs for a total of 850 distress calls that were monitored through social media and news sites, as well as installing prosthetic limbs and prosthetic devices for 451 disabled people.
He also pointed out that the year 2021 witnessed the delivery of a large number of medical convoys by the Higher Medical Committee and the Relief Committee — in cooperation with the Supreme Council of University Hospital and a number of civil society institutions — that contributed to covering most of the governorates of the republic and providing the necessary medical care for a large number of patients that amounted to about 44,000 cases.
