Health Ministry adds 3 specialties to health initiative to end waiting lists All surgeries, medications that patients receive under presidential initiative are free of charge
Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has added three surgical specialties within the presidential hea;th initiative to end waiting lists in hospitals. The three specialties are surgeries of chest, congenital defects for children, bone marrow transplantation, according to a statement from the Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar on Wednesday. All surgeries and medications that patients receive are free of charge. Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting on Tuesday evening in the presence of Ahmed Al-Sobki, the Assistant Minister for Monitoring and Follow-up Affairs and Chairperson of the Public Authority for Health Care; Wael Al-Saei, Assistant Minister for Financial and Administrative Affairs; and Mustafa Ghonima, Assistant Minister for Therapeutic Medicine. The meeting followed up on the progress of work and the executive position of the president's initiative to end waiting lists, and was also attended by Mohsen Taha, Head of the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, and Karim Sallam, Director of the Central Chamber of Waiting Lists. During the meeting, the minister noted that the initiative includes surgeries; kidney transplant, liver transplant, cochlear transplant, heart, bone, conjunctivitis, tumors, cardiac catheters, brain catheters, cardiac catheters, and brain and nerves. He further directed the inclusion of the new comprehensive health insurance hospitals to work within the presidential initiative to end waiting lists, in order to expand the work base of the initiative and provide medical services and surgical interventions to a larger number of citizens.
