Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Abu Bakr Hefni, discussed with Tanzanian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Damas Ndumbaro, preparations for the fourth session of the Egyptian-Tanzania joint committee meetings in the first quarter of 2020, according to a statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.
During the meeting, Ndumbaro stressed that his country is keen on cementing ties with Egypt in all fields, praising Cairo's support for the plans of the Tanzanian government through Egyptian companies operating in the African country.
The discussions are part of Hefni's participation in the 18th meeting of Africa-Nordic foreign ministers held in Tanzania.
Both diplomats reviewed outcomes of the visits of their respective key officials in 2019 and positive developments in growing bilateral ties in recent years since President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's visit to Tanzania in 2017.
They further discussed the means to foster cooperation in the fields of agriculture, foodstuff production, animal and fish wealth, energy and medicine, in addition to increasing trade exchange and investments under Egypt's current chairpersonship of the African Union.
In May 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania Palamagamba Kabudi paid a visit to Egypt during which he met with a number of officials to discuss means of promoting joint cooperation between the two countries.
In July 2019, Tanzania Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa arrived at Cairo International Airport as the head of a high-level delegation, paying a visit to Egypt upon the invitation of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly who received him at the airport. The visit aimed to promote bilateral relations between the two countries and tackle a number of dossiers, including means of promoting trade and economic cooperation between Egypt and Tanzania.
