Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Wednesday that Egypt looks forward to working with Tanzania and other African nations in light of the numerous political, security and economic challenges the continent is facing.
During a meeting with Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, the president called for rallying African efforts using the African Union's mechanisms to face such challenges.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Tanzanian Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives Japhet Hasunga and the Tanzanian ambassador to Egypt, said presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
Sisi expressed Egypt's keenness on boosting bilateral relations and joint cooperation mechanisms with Tanzania, increasing the volume of joint investments and exchanging expertise in mega national projects to achieve the interests of the two peoples.
At the start of the meeting, the president called on the Tanzanian prime minister to convey his greetings to Tanzanian President John Joseph Maguful, expressing Egypt's appreciation for the distinguished historic and political relations with Tanzania which started 55 years ago.
The Tanzanian prime minister conveyed the greetings of the Tanzanian president to El-Sisi, praising the level of relations between the two countries.
He praised his visits to the Suez Canal corridor and the new administrative capital, congratulating El-Sisi on the success of such mega projects.
Majaliwa said his country looks forward to increasing the volume of trade with Egypt to benefit from the potentials Egypt enjoys in various fields and is keen on supporting Egyptian companies and businessmen who seek investment in Tanzania.
He also praised Egypt's participation in the Stiegler's Gorge hydroelectric power dam in Tanzania, the construction contract for which was won by a consortium of Egyptian firms, highlighting Sisi's statements that he was following up the project implementation to secure the best level of performance.
The Tanzanian prime minister also said that his country was looking forward to benefiting from Egypt's expertise in the construction of the New Administrative Capital, which is built with the latest international standards.
He expressed appreciation for Egyptian-Tanzanian technical cooperation and the technical support the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) offers for training Tanzanian cadres in all fields including water, security, diplomacy, health, justice and food industries.
The Tanzanian prime minister congratulated Sisi for the successful presidency of the African Union and the launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) during the African summit in Niger.
