XD-EGEMAC wins tender for North Hurghada transformer station
World Bank finances the project, contract at $18m: Ramadan

The XD-EGEMAC Alliance won the North Hurghada transformer station tender after competing with 10 companies.
XD-EGEMAC's CEO, Medhat Ramadan, said that the alliance includes EGEMAC, ABB, four Chinese companies, and an Indian company. He added that the cost of the project is estimated at $18m.
Ramadan told Daily News Egypt that the alliance will complete the establishment of the project within 12 months. He noted that the station aims to support the electricity grid in the Red Sea area and support the electricity feed to Hurghada. He added that the project is being financed by the World Bank.
Moreover, he noted that the company also won a tender to establish another transformer station in Bani Mazar at a cost of EGP 47m.
He explained that the station will have a capacity of 66/11 KV and will be completed within six months.
He pointed out that the station is part of the five-year plan of the Ministry of Electricity (2012-2017) to develop the grid.
Furthermore, Ramadan said that the company is implementing two transformer stations with a capacity of 66/11 KV in North Qena and Aswan, at a total cost of EGP 80m. He added that the cost of the project is financed by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC).
According to Ramadan, the company is working on the construction of another 220/66/11 kVA station in Fayoum.
He pointed out that the contract includes supplying and installing equipments of 220/66 in capacity, in addition to the civil works. The project is estimated to be completed within eight months.
