Egypt's Unified Procurement Authority (UPA) has launched an upgraded version of its MedIQ digital platform as part of ongoing efforts to modernise and centralise the country's medical procurement and supply chain systems, the authority said on Tuesday. The new version was unveiled during a large-scale training event at the Princess Fatma Academy for Medical Education, attended by representatives of public health agencies both in person and online. The enhanced MedIQ system aims to improve efficiency and transparency across all stages of medical procurement — from order submission to supply delivery — by offering a more advanced and user-friendly interface and integrating financial data through Microsoft Dynamics. According to the UPA, the updated system will allow real-time coordination between requesting entities and the authority's technical and financial departments, helping shorten processing times and strengthen oversight. The MedIQ upgrade also introduces advanced analytics and forecasting tools to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning for national medical supply needs. The authority said the move aligns with Egypt's broader digital transformation strategy and represents "a major step towards unified management and higher efficiency in the medical procurement and supply ecosystem."
