Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar inspected the $162.75-m medical warehouses project progress in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), the Cabinet said in a statement on Thursday. Abdel Ghaffar also met with Hisham Stait, head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and Technology Management (UPA) to review implementation plans and resolve any obstacles. The health minister stressed that the project is one of Egypt's key national initiatives to strengthen pharmaceutical security and modernise storage and distribution in line with Egypt's Vision 2030, as per the announcement. Six warehouses are under construction nationwide, including a central hub in the New Administrative Capital and branches in Alexandria, Mansoura, Minya, Qena, and Ismailia, the statement added. The warehouses will operate under global quality standards (ISO 9001, 22000, GDP, GSP) using advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and SAP Demand Planning. Services will include storage, cooling, packaging, repackaging, and pharmaceutical tracking to secure supply chains. He also directed a review of existing health ministry warehouses to integrate them within the new system, ensuring standardised operations, efficient resource use, and improved medical service delivery nationwide.
