Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met on Wednesday with senior ministry officials to assess the availability of medicine stocks and strengthen procurement mechanisms, as part of efforts to ensure uninterrupted access to vital pharmaceuticals across all ministry-run medical facilities. The discussions focused on improving financial allocations for medicines, enhancing coordination with The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA) and ensuring the availability of a safe, strategic stock of essential drugs throughout the country's healthcare network. Abdel Ghaffar said the ministry is committed to guaranteeing citizens' right to safe treatment and effective medicines by securing all required drug types at every medical facility, in line with the state's drive to deliver comprehensive healthcare services nationwide. The meeting also reviewed systems for periodically assessing medication requirements, ensuring fair distribution of critical drugs, and accelerating procurement procedures through the UPA to meet the actual needs of hospitals and health centres across the governorates. The talks also examined plans for covering pharmaceutical needs across the ministry's various sectors, based on current priorities and nationwide demand.
