Tunisia's Prime Minister Sara Zaafarani said Thursday her country fully supports Egypt's position rejecting the displacement of Palestinians and upholding their right to statehood, as she wrapped up the 18th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint High Committee in Cairo. Speaking at a joint press conference with Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Zaafarani praised Egypt's "vital role" in the Palestinian cause and said the two sides had agreed to intensify cooperation to raise bilateral trade, which she said remains below potential despite "historic and brotherly" ties. Zaafarani urged private-sector investors in both countries to deepen partnerships and expand into African markets, noting Tunisia's strong presence in West Africa and Egypt's in Central and East Africa. The Tunisian prime minister also voiced support for a Libyan-led political process free of foreign interference and called for greater ministerial and expert-level exchanges to build momentum in economic cooperation. The session concluded with the signing of multiple cooperation agreements in areas including health, youth, economic development, and investment climate improvement.
