Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Sisi on Sunday tasked senior media officials with preparing a comprehensive roadmap to develop Egyptian media. The plan will draw on specialised expertise to ensure the national media keeps pace with rapid global changes and fulfils its role in line with Egypt's modern state and the new republic. The president emphasised the importance of providing data and information to the media, especially during crises of public interest, to ensure balanced coverage free from exaggeration or omission. Sisi also stressed relying on qualified young media professionals and organising educational and training programmes for media workers, focusing on national security concepts and openness to diverse opinions. This aims to reinforce the principle of "opinions and counter-opinions" within Egypt's media system. During the meeting, the president received presentations on efforts to develop Egyptian radio and television, including affiliated channels, as well as updates on modernising national press institutions. He approved the government's proposed cash allowance for journalists and ordered a resolution to the end-of-service bonus issue for staff at Maspero. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M.
