Asia markets mixed on tariff news

Asia-Pacific markets experienced a mixed trading day on Wednesday following US President Donald Trump's announcement that there would be no extension on the deadline for tariffs scheduled to take effect on August 1.
Japan's Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.33 per cent to end the day at 39,821.28, and the broader Topix index also saw a gain of 0.41 per cent to reach 2,828.16.
In South Korea, the Kospi index increased by 0.6 per cent to close at 3,113.74, and the small-cap Kosdaq index added 0.78 per cent to reach 790.36.
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index closed the day down 0.61 per cent at 8,538.60.
