Egypt on Thursday launched dedicated, sustainable lanes at Cairo International Airport for African Union nationals, marking Africa Day celebrations and the anniversary of the Organisation of African Unity's founding on May 25. Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty assigned Ambassador Ihab Awad, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs, to represent the ministry at the ceremony, held in the presence of African ambassadors in Cairo and officials from the ministries of civil aviation and interior. Ambassador Awad said the move reflects Egypt's growing engagement with the rising number of African visitors and aims to ensure their smooth entry and warm reception at the airport. The initiative is part of wider state efforts to deepen Egypt's African identity. He noted that Egyptian institutions are committed to implementing presidential directives to strengthen relations with African nations at both official and popular levels. This includes enhancing medical and conference tourism, increasing scholarship offers for African students, and building grassroots ties.
