Egypt has won the Best Pavilion Design Award at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, a recognition officials say reflects the country's cinematic resurgence and growing international appeal, the government said in a statement Saturday. The award was granted to the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) pavilion, selected from among entries representing more than 150 countries, including the United States and China. The pavilion was designed by Egyptian film production designer Shereen Farghal. Featuring a unified presence by the Egypt Film Commission, CIFF, and El Gouna Film Festival, the pavilion aimed to present an integrated vision of Egypt's cinematic heritage and its role in contemporary global film. It hosted a series of panels and networking events focused on Arab cinema, international co-productions, and industry collaboration. The win underscores the growing visibility of Egyptian cinema and the increasing competitiveness of its film industry. The Egypt Film Commission has attracted over 60 international productions in recent years, bolstering the country's profile as a filming destination. Established in 1976, the Cairo International Film Festival is the oldest in the Arab world and Africa and is accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). The Cannes Film Festival, launched in 1959, is the world's most prominent film festival and a key global hub for film industry professionals. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
