Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has praised Ghana's positive role in resolving crises across West Africa, highlighting the growing security challenges in Africa that demand solidarity among African states, especially in light of armed and terrorist group activity in the Lake Chad Basin and the Sahel. In a meeting with Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on Thursday in Brussels, Abdel-Aty shared Egypt's national counterterrorism experience. He underscored the importance of a comprehensive and sustainable approach that includes ideological confrontation of extremism and a focus on development. He also pointed to the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) as a resource for programmes countering extremism and promoting peace, reiterating Egypt's commitment to supporting fellow African nations. Abdel-Aty praised the strong bilateral ties and stressed the need to maintain regular consultations under the memorandum of understanding establishing a political dialogue mechanism between the two foreign ministries. He welcomed the rise in trade volume from $177 million in 2021 to $240 million in 2023, and expressed hopes for further growth. He also lauded the contributions of Egyptian companies in Ghana, particularly in construction and power generation. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
