Egypt's Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held talks with the Chair of the Board of the vaccine alliance Gavi José Manuel Barroso to discuss mechanisms for expanding vaccine manufacturing, according to a Cabinet statement. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, and was attended by representatives from Gavi and senior Egyptian health officials, as per the statement. The discussions focused on promoting vaccine production in Egypt and across African nations, in addition to scaling up vaccination services and primary healthcare. The two sides also reviewed ways to enhance immunisation programmes, improve healthcare systems, and strengthen cooperation to ensure equitable access to vaccines across Africa and the MENA region.
