Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held talks on Tuesday with a delegation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to enhance cooperation in supporting and developing the healthcare sector, as per a Cabinet statement. The meeting took place on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2025, held in the United Arab Emirates from 15 to 17 April. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen joint efforts in key areas aligned with sustainable development goals, including boosting Egypt's capabilities in vaccine and pharmaceutical production. The talks highlighted the importance of improving domestic manufacturing standards in line with global quality benchmarks to meet both national and regional needs. The meeting identified priority areas for collaboration, particularly in technology transfer, encouraging local and international investment, and promoting sustainable industrial development in the health sector. UNIDO praised Egypt's leadership in regional health initiatives, especially in vaccine production, biotechnology, and resilient healthcare systems. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Egypt's health sector and leveraging Egyptian expertise in industrial development across Africa and beyond.
