Egypt's Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir met with Governor of Ismailia Akram Galal to address challenges facing investors in industrial zones in the governorate and discuss solutions, a Cabinet statement said on Sunday. El-Wazir discussed the ministry's recent efforts to support industrial development, including the establishment of a factory inspection committee led by the Industrial Development Authority (IDA). The IDA, along with other relevant authorities, is responsible for granting deadlines, changing activities, and setting requirements for renting industrial lands to promote transparency and governance in industrial procedures. He emphasised the need for collaboration and coordination between the IDA and state agencies in overseeing industrial lands, ensuring that allocated factories adhere to construction timelines, and monitoring their operational status. El-Wazir requested the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to review the credit rating of the industrial zone in Qantara East, classified as high-risk, to support business continuity. Each factory in the area must establish a treatment plant for industrial waste before discharging it into the public network. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: M. S. Salama
