Some 12 students from every university participating in the 9th week of university students at Mansoura University went to "security check" yesterday before attending the conference convened by Gamal Mubarak, Assistant Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP), today.

The State Security Investigation Office has stepped up its security procedures and established security gates at the entrances and exits of the university.
Dakahlia Governor Samir Sallam ordered the head of Mansoura eastern and western districts to "wash" the streets and sidewalks in places where Gamal Mubarak's motorcade would pass by. Gamal Mubarak is due to go to the conference by a private plane.
The SSI warned the inhabitants of the surrounding buildings against opening windows overlooking the university or parking their cars in the surrounding areas. The inhabitants' driving licenses have been withdrawn to be checked. They will have them back after the end of the visit.
Gamal Mubarak held a meeting at the NDP headquarters in Cairo yesterday. It was attended by some 70 members of NGOs fighting poverty in Assiut and Sohag governorates as well as by Housing Minister Ahmed al-Maghrabi, Social Solidarity Minister Ali Al-Moselhy, and Local Development Minister Abdel Salam Mahgoub.
Gamal Mubarak stressed that the NDP government is committed to carrying out the anti-poverty program in accordance with specific criteria and main corner stones, including the improvement of drinking water, health services and education.
The program also aims to expand the scope of social security, create new jobs and improve the environmental situation.
