"I do not need to stress our support for the Egyptian regime of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi. We always work to defend it against the evil powers, as we realize that they work to destroy the country. But this does not mean we should keep silent, when the ruling regime hurts itself, or when it takes serious steps to break its hand that is defending it against the plans aiming to dissolve it. Do not turn the journalists into foes or enemies, as they seriously are not." This is the advice which I used to conclude my article entitled "Journalism and the President.. Who plans to break Sisi's hand". It was honest advice aiming to achieve the interests of the country, while no one reads. And those people who read transcend what they read depending on their power. I will not talk about the shame of storming the Press Syndicate on Sunday or the presidency's denial that it was informed of what happened in that night. I also will not discuss the contradicted statements issued by the Interior Ministry to cover its violations. However, I will discuss what happened after the disaster that will not pass peacefully. Those who planned for storming the syndicate to arrest two journalists have not paid any attention that they exert efforts to create new enemies for the current ruling regime. They reduce its supporters and undermine those who work to defend it to put them among the others who chant against it. I will believe that the presidency had not been informed of what happened. I will suppose that it knew the news like us after minutes from the syndicate's storming. What are the steps that it took to contain the crisis? It did not make any comments. It has not taken any measures to contain the problem. Do the state institutions lack a wise man to take the right decision? A difference of opinion is not a crime. Even if it became a crime in the vision of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi's regime, it would not be logic or legal to deal with journalists in this way that breaks the president's image before not only the Egyptians but also the whole world. If the Interior Ministry claims that it had the permission to arrest the two journalists from the judicial authorities, we ask about the measures that they took in dealing with similar cases. Do you want to defeat the journalism? Well, do you realize that defeating the journalism is a complete defeat to you? Journalism worked to serve the interests of the country since the beginning. No one can deny this fact. When any regime works to suppress the journalism, it always harms itself. What are the gains that the ruling regime achieved from what happened against the journalists? Simply, it unified the journalists who adopt different visions. They participated in slogans and chants transcending solidarity with the arrested journalists to pave the way for a potential revolution. The wise regime should work seriously to contain the different parties to turn the foes into friends.
