President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi issued Tuesday a decree to pardon a number of prisoners, ahead of January 25 revolution's anniversary, Al Bawaba News reported. The decree states that the prisoner sentenced to life imprisonment could be released if he spent 15 years of his sentence until January 25. Also, the decree includes those who have other prison sentence than life imprisonment, as if a prisoner spent half his prison sentence, but not less than six months, he can be pardoned. Sources within presidency, revealed Sunday in a statement to Al Bawaba that Al Sisi would issue a decree pardoning more than 100 young men, ahead of January 25 revolution's anniversary. The sources who spoke to Al Bawaba on condition of anonymity, stressed that the priority among imprisoned young men to receive a presidential pardon are those who have a critical health condition and university students accused of violating the protest law. This comes in light of the state's determination to contain the anger of young people and pardon a number of young prisoners, after a meeting between Al Sisi and a group of young political activists in the past few days.
