The High Election Committee (HEC) announced Friday night the first phase run-off results of voting for the legislature, during a press conference at the HEC's headquarters. The voting run-off was held on two days inside and outside Egypt, and covered 14 of Egypt's 27 governorates. According to HEC, 27.4 million Egyptians were eligible to vote in the first phase of parliamentary elections, which included 99 constituencies with 418 candidates competing over 209 seats. The first phase included Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira and Matrouh.
