Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) head Ali El-Ghamrawy met with a delegation from Haleon, a global consumer health company, to discuss cooperation, market support, pharmaceutical exports, and regulatory improvements for product access, the Cabinet said on Thursday. Discussions focused on several key areas, including Haleon's strategic initiatives and achievements in localising production in recent years, as well as its future expansion plans within the Egyptian and regional markets. The talks also touched on Egypt's current and future export policies, with an emphasis on adopting flexible solutions that respond to market conditions. The two sides discussed proposals for expanding the over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical segment and improving product availability and continuity in the local market. The delegation praised the EDA's role in supporting the pharmaceutical industry and fostering a regulatory environment aligned with international best practices—efforts that position Egypt as a regional hub for pharmaceutical production and export.
