The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) chairman Ali El-Ghamrawy held a meeting with the CEO of Pi Pharma Intelligence company to discuss avenues for enhancing Egypt's pharmaceutical industry and expanding its regional and global footprint. Discussions focused on several strategic areas, including maximising value-added production, integrating Egyptian pharmaceutical products into regional supply chains, and strengthening the domestic value chain, a Cabinet statement said. The meeting also addressed intellectual property strategies, opportunities in the development of generic medicines, and innovative business models to overcome local and global challenges in the pharmaceutical sector. Particular emphasis was placed on leveraging Egypt's bilateral agreements and regional ties, especially with Eastern Mediterranean and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as per the statement. El-Ghamrawy reaffirmed the EDA's commitment to partnerships that balance access to essential medicines with the competitiveness of the Egyptian pharmaceutical industry, aligning with the state's localisation and sustainability strategies. The meeting reflects the EDA's broader efforts to support innovation and flexible policies that promote market access, positioning Egypt as a regional hub for pharmaceutical production and exports.
