The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Chairman Ali El Ghamrawy on Thursday met with a delegation from pharmaceutical giant Sanofi to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation on key issues aimed at advancing Egypt's pharmaceutical industry, particularly localisation policies and the sustained availability of strategic medicines. The delegation included Dr Adrien Delamarre de Boutteville, chairman of Sanofi Egypt and Africa, and Dr Magued Sayed, head of Government Affairs and Market Access for Africa. Discussions focused on Sanofi's operations and product portfolio in Egypt, as well as future collaboration on localisation plans. The talks also reviewed recommendations from the recent French presidential visit to Egypt and followed up on outcomes of Prime Minister Mosutafa Madbouly's meeting with Sanofi officials, in addition to recent discussions with the Minister of Trade and Industry regarding pharmaceutical industry development. Both sides stressed the importance of deepening the partnership to ensure a balance between accessibility to essential medicines and their continued availability for Egyptian patients. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Egypt's national strategy for localising pharmaceutical production and ensuring long-term drug sustainability.
