Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Head Ali El-Ghamrawy has met with AstraZeneca Egypt Country President Hatem El-Werdany to discuss ways to boost collaboration in local pharmaceutical manufacturing and investment, according to a Cabinet statement. The discussions focused on boosting industrial localisation, expanding local production of pharmaceutical products to meet domestic demand, and supporting Egypt's plans to boost exports to African markets. The meeting aligns with the government's strategy to achieve self-sufficiency and strengthen the global competitiveness of Egypt's pharmaceutical sector. AstraZeneca representatives discussed their expansion plans in Egypt, focusing on localisation programmes and increasing production for local and regional markets. They also addressed investment challenges and collaboration with the EDA to enhance the business environment for pharmaceutical companies. Meanwhile, EDA reiterated its commitment to advancing pharmaceutical policy and fostering strategic partnerships with leading global firms to improve healthcare quality and ensure access to innovative treatments that meet international standards.
