Egypt plans to launch a new online training platform for tourism sector employees under the name EGTAP.com, its tourism minister announced Monday, as part of efforts to boost skills and service quality across the industry. Minister of Tourism Sherif Fathy said the digital platform would offer certified and market-driven training programmes for staff within the ministry and the broader private sector. Designed as an interactive tool for knowledge-sharing, EGTAP.com will continuously evolve to align with industry developments and future workforce demands. Minister Fathy emphasised the importance of investing in human capital and diversifying training tools, including through global partnerships and digital technologies. He added that the ministry is keen to support training initiatives that open access to advanced programmes across hotel chains and promote exposure to international best practices. The announcement came during a ceremony in Cairo marking the signing of two strategic cooperation protocols between Egypt's Chamber of Tourist Establishments (CTE) and global leaders in hospitality training — Switzerland's Sommet Education and the digital platform Lobster Ink.
