On Saturday the 19th of September, Al-Helaly al-Sherbiny was sworn in to be a part of Sherief Ismail's new Cabinet, as the Education Minister. Controversy spiked as he was appointed and doubts cannot yet be cast as to whether or not he will be any better than his successor. Al-Sherbiny rose first as the professor of educational planning and management and the latest of his posts were him being Chairman of Mansoura University for Students and Education Affairs, by a decree issued by former Prime Minister, Ibrahim Mahlab. Al-Sherbiny took on some leading roles such as being deputy chairman of educational affairs, then the dean. Later he was a cultural adviser in Libya for four years, till he became the higher education deputy minister for cultural affairs. The minister was commended and praised by cultural sectors and ministry of higher education. It did not stop at that as it seems that the new minister is involved in civil society work, benefiting society all around. Environment and greenery were other aspects he was involved in where he was also highly commended. Al-Sherbiny was not only praised by his country, but by many other Arab countries. Despite being the newly appointed Minister of Education, it seems like al-Sherbiny's capability of spelling has been questioned by the masses. The minister's Facebook page was under scrutiny by social media users as well as satirical comments swarming his page. In one post referring to how presenters should quite learn linguistics, he misspelt "presenters" which sent in multiple mocking statements of the new Minister of Education.
