Zamalek fined, lose points for fans' storming stands Zamalek were declared 2-0 losers against Haras El-Hodoud following fans running onto the stands in the closed-door match
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) competition committee declared Zamalek 2-0 losers against Haras El-Hodoud after some of the Whites' fans stormed the stands during a behind-closed-doors league draw. In addition to losing the match points, Zamalek have also been fined LE30,000 as a sanction for their fans' infringement. During Zamalek's 1-1 home draw with Hodoud, a group of the Zamalek's ultras fans defied a crowd ban and appeared with flares in the stands, forcing the referee to halt play for a few seconds. Even though they didn't remain for long, as the game swiftly resumed, speculation was rife that the Cairo giants would be subject to losing the game's points, according to the EFA's regulations. Former manager Helmy Toulan was also fined LE15,000 for failing to show up to the post-match press conference. Zamalek now are in fifth place of Group B on six points, seven adrift of leaders Ismaily who have played an extra game.
