Ivory Coast's Drogba may move to UAE - report Argentina legend Diego Maradona considers bringing Drogba to United Arab Emirates side Al Wasl, English paper claims
Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba may join UAE club Al Wasl in the summer transfer window, English newspaper the Daily Mail reported on Saturday. The prolific striker is set to leave English side Chelsea after guiding them to a remarkable Champions League triumph last month at the expense of German giants Bayern Munich. The Daily Mail said Argentina great Maradona, the coach of Al Wasl, is planning to sign Drogba on a free transfer. “Who in the world would not want Drogba? Every team would love to have such a player in their ranks,” the paper quoted Maradona as saying. Maradona may face stiff competition from Chinese big-spending club Shanghai Shenhua, who have reportedly offered Drogba a lucrative deal. The player is also linked with a move to Spanish La Liga winners Real Madrid. The 34-year-old has led Chelsea three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups since joining from French side Marseille in 2004.
